Official BY-LAWS Governing the DK Organization

In accordance with the DK Bylaws, a review committee is to be established every odd year [2013, 2015, 2017, etc.] to make recommendations for bylaw amendments. These recommendations are reviewed by the Dayton Continuance Board prior to being submitted to the general membership for ratification.

Below are the amendments to the DK Bylaws from the 2015 review committee, that were approved by the Continuance Board. There will be a vote to accept or amend these changes at the March 2016 reunion.

It appears that the board is wanting to remove Jim/Norma from the postion of Lay Leader emeritus. Please explsin the thought behind this.

In reviewing the official by-laws of an organization, by-laws don’t contain formal names only positions and/or titles. As a means of protection board members are held to a high standard and liability, so by removing them from the by-laws there is no liability for them in the rare circumstance that DK is ever sued. Jim & Norma established Dayton Koinonia and we respect that, and honor them for that. They will continue to be the cornerstone of the foundation of Dayton Koinonia and will always be referenced throughout the weekends.
